Brian Eno

Belated birthday wishes to Brian Eno, one of rock music true innovators and an absolute genius writer, performer and musician, His work with Bowie, obviously, I am a huge fan of not to mention Roxy Music, Talking Heads, U2, Paul Simon, Carmel.... I am sure I am scratching the surface!

Most of us will have a record which Eno has either played on, produced or had a writing credit for. As well as Bowie, Talking Heads  and U2 I am particularly keen on one of the albums he issued with David Byrne Everything that Happens Will Happen Today. The accompanying tour was innovative and superb.

Another fantastic gig by David Byrne, after my 10/10 review for his April 2009 gig at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall I am delighted to say this was another absolutely superb performance from a band who know the material inside out and are just so polished and so talented. It was brilliant.....though as I usually find the Edinburgh audience took a really long time to get on their feet and really enjoy the show. The set was, as you would expected for such a heavily choreographed show, very similar to the Glasgow one but a couple of nice changes including Road to Nowhere in the encore. Will post the set list and photos / video clip in the morning!

I cannot locate a definitive set list I am afraid.

David Byrne

Well it is at times like this I wish I had a way with words. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been at. David Byrne mixed his new material with tracks written mostly with Eno through his Talking Heads days.

In addition to a stunning band which made the 5 pieces sound like 10 or 15 his use of the talents of the backing singers together with a 3 piece dance group all wonderfully choreograped into one set was just amazing.

I took some clips on my phone having forgotten to pick my cameras out of the boot of the car! Curses. I will try and add these at sometime tomorrow (now added).

In the meantime the reviews are found here and trust me if you get the chance to go to a future date....please take it!
