Not exactly my kind of theme and as suspected none of my suggestions (Bowie, Patti Smith, The Clash) made the cut! I thought this has=d a chance:
Dave Edmunds ably assisted by Nick Lowe had a great run of late 70's rocking singles, nice and simple and fun.

Forgotten Album Friday #22 - Dave Edmunds
Sorry for the lack of meaningful updates but hopefully this great lp from Dave Edmunds gets me back into the way of things!

The lp is pretty much what you would expect from Dave Edmunds with some classic rockers together with some new material notably from future producer Nick Lowe. Backed by Rockpile the playing and production are exemplary and there really is not a bad track on the lp.
The first of four cracking lp's on the Swan Song label the standout tracks are:
I Knew The Bride
Crawling From The Wreckage
Back To School Days
Get Out Of Denver
