Lockdown Gig - Josh Ritter So Runs The World Away

Tonight ay 4pm PDT (sorry you need to convert this to UK I just cannot get the hang of it but I think it is midnight for us night owls!) Josh Ritter continues his brilliant Silo Sessions with So Runs The World Away, a superb album when it was released 10 years ago. I am fairly sure you can get this on youtube or face book as is your choice.

I thing this will be a superb show and highly recommended, as always with Josh tips are for charity (I think foodbank Feeding America but again easily checked).

Here are some of the album highlights.

Josh Ritter Silo Sessions - Covers Night and Lady Gaga!

I managed to catch the Josh Ritter silo session last night which was excellent, really intimate and he always has a lovely with him, his joy of music shines out. Donations were for a US Foodbank which is fantastic.

Amongst his cover versions was a Lady Gaga song called You and I which was outstanding, I find her a bit of an enigma, amongst all the weird (to me) dressing up there is a fantastic singer and sensitive songwriter in there.

Anyway....hopefully there will be a couple of clips put up which I can share and in the meantime here are a couple of Josh tracks, and Lady gaga!

Josh Ritter - Oran Mor

A great gig last night at Oran Mor in Glasgow with Dawn landes supporting Josh Ritter. I think they are Husband and Wife actually.

I was too busy enjoying myself to take proper mental notes but the new material sounded fantastic live and the set list was excellent mixing in some great songs from his now pretty lengthy back catalouge, I think 6 albums now?

Highlights were:

Wolves
Change of Time
Lantern
Good Man

New Josh Ritter Album - So Runs The World Away

Great news that on 4th May Josh Ritter releases a new album. This is his 5th album and promises to be a cracker if the sound of the material previewed in his support slot for Ray Lamontange is anything to go by. It would appear it is the ususal band

Mark Erelli, Ethan Johns, Ray Lamontange, Josh Ritter

I am horribly late in posting this but a few of us were at a great gig in Usher Hall, Edinburgh with these great artists. I have to admit I was there principally to see Josh Ritter and I think a good section of the audience was as well. That said the headline act, Ray Lamontange, was really good. But no-one can touch Josh and if I was a performer he would be one of the last guys I would have as support!

The hall was very dark, principally I think because Ray is so shy, but I took some clips and photos anyway - not good quality I am afraid. Great gig all round though.
